About TaraShakti

We exist to build confidence, connection, and community

Our story begins with a love for friends, life, & onsies

In 2013, our founder Tara's friend, Holly, challenged their group to show up for their annual ski trip in onesies. This particular trip was extra special, as Holly was living with terminal brain cancer diagnosis. Her friends were thrilled to get another ski trip with her and "NO" was not an option. They would celebrate life, friendship and ridiculous fun on the mountain.

Tara took up the challenge and scoured eBay for a vintage onesie. She found one, then another, then another…a self-described non-shopper, found her obsession and feel head over heals in love. She bought them all and soon Pinkie, Dottie, Goldie, and Michael were neatly folded in her suitcase and ready for the slopes (Yes, she named them. It’s a thing.)

That weekend with her girlfriends in Whistler was both dreamy and down-to-earth, real and magical. And the onesies? They lit up the slopes, added laughter, connection and unpredictable memory making that was priceless. Igniting Tara's unbridled love of the magic of ski suits.

Dedicated to onesies

In 2019, Tara Clark went all in and pursued her dream of creating modern ski suits inspired by vintage designs.

She makes decisions with her heart, led by intuition, integrity and playing outside the lines to work with people and in places that facilitate unique, thoughtful and long lasting products.

We are a brand committed to creating high-performance, sustainable ski suits that celebrate women's body, courage, confidence and community spirit.

Made in Nepal with life-long friendships

Thanks to a long time, special friendship with Lakpa Rita Sherpa and Phurba Dikee Sherpa, our founder approached Tashi Tsering Sherpa, founder of Sherpa Adventure Gear. Tashi, moved by Tara's vision, embraced the project with a profound philosophy:  "Sherpas are known for taking people to the top of mountains, but who we see ourselves to be are people help people on their life journey with a goal to return them safely home."

Our suits and furry fanny packs are handmade in Kathmandu.

For every suit purchased, we contribute $25 to the Northwest Sherpa Association to honor our origins. TaraShakti would not exist without the belief and support of the incredible Sherpa community in Seattle.

Every suit sale supports Brain Cancer Research

Our story began with celebrating our friends, spending quality time together, and looking fabulous. We wanted to somehow thank the Ivy Center for Primary Brain Tumor Treatment for extending Holly's life far beyond initial expectations.

Could they recreate that original magical weekend on the slopes somehow to support the cause?

Following visions of disco ball helmets, Macklemore, and onsies, and with the help and enthusiasm of many remarkable women, we made this dream happen with a video to raise significant and much needed funds for the Ivy Center for Advanced Brain Tumor Treatment.
